Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
VidNexus is designed to be local-first. The vast majority of what you do - scripts, footage, voiceovers, rendered videos - stays on your machine and is never transmitted to us or anyone else. This policy describes the limited data we do collect and how we handle it.
1. Data You Provide Directly
1.1 Purchase information
When you purchase VidNexus, our payment provider (acting as Merchant of Record) collects your email, billing address, and payment details. We receive a notification of the purchase including your email, license tier, and order ID. We do not see or store your payment card information.
1.2 Waitlist signups
If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address via Loops.so. We use this only to notify you of launch and major announcements. You can unsubscribe at any time.
1.3 Support correspondence
If you email us for support, we retain that correspondence for the purpose of providing support and improving the product. We do not use it for marketing.
2. Data the App Sends to Us
2.1 License validation
VidNexus periodically validates your license with our server (typically once per day while the app is running). This request includes:
- Your license key (or a hash of it)
- A machine fingerprint (anonymized hash of your machine's identifiers)
- The current app version
We use this data only to verify your license is valid and to count machine activations against your license limit.
2.2 Crash reports
If VidNexus crashes, the error is written to a crash log on your computer. It is not sent anywhere automatically. It reaches us only if you choose to send it with Report an issue (Settings), together with the diagnostic details shown before you send.
2.3 Usage events (off by default)
If you turn on usage events in Settings, VidNexus records anonymous events (for example: a project was created, how long a render stage took, which feature was used) in a file on your computer. Nothing is uploaded. You can view, export or clear them in Settings; they reach us only if you export and send them yourself. They never include script content, narration text, file paths or thumbnails.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- Your scripts, narrations, or any text content you write
- Footage you select, stock candidates, or local files
- Rendered video files
- Voice synthesis output (MP3 files)
- Any content you generate with the app
- Webcam, microphone, or screen-capture data (we don't use these APIs at all)
4. Third-Party Services You Connect
When you connect API keys to third-party services (ElevenLabs, Pexels, Pixabay, Coverr, OpenAI, etc.), VidNexus transmits relevant queries to those services on your behalf. Specifically:
- ElevenLabs: receives your narration text for voice synthesis. Subject to ElevenLabs' privacy policy.
- Pexels, Pixabay, Coverr: receive search queries (typically based on your scene narration). They do not receive your full script.
- OpenAI / Ollama / vLLM: receive your topic and partial script during generation. If you run Ollama locally, this never leaves your machine.
These third parties are independent data controllers. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies. We do not store, log, or have access to the content you send to them.
5. Cookies and Analytics on the Website
The VidNexus website (vidnexus.app) uses no advertising pixels and no fingerprinting, and never sells or shares visitor data for ads.
5.1 Necessary cookies
If you sign in to your account, the site sets a cookie to keep you signed in. It is needed for the account page to work and is not used for anything else.
5.2 Analytics (only if you agree)
When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. If you click Accept, Google Analytics 4 loads and sets its cookies (_ga and _ga_<id>). It records things like the pages you view, how you arrived (for example a search engine or a link), your approximate country and city, and your device and browser type. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features and data sharing for ads are switched off.
If you click Decline, Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookie is set. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer; declining after accepting removes the analytics cookies. The legal basis is your consent.
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited (for visitors in the EU/EEA and UK) and Google LLC. Data may be transferred to the United States under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google's privacy policy.
6. Data Retention
- License records: retained for the lifetime of your license + 7 years (for tax and accounting purposes).
- Waitlist emails: retained until you unsubscribe.
- Support emails: retained for 3 years.
- Crash reports and usage events you send us with a support request: retained with that support email (3 years).
- Website analytics (only if you accepted them): retained in Google Analytics for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or California, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data (subject to retention requirements for legal/tax purposes).
- Port your data to another provider.
- Object to processing for marketing purposes.
- Withdraw consent for analytics and crash reporting.
Exercise any of these rights by emailing support@vidnexus.app. We respond within 30 days.
8. Children
VidNexus is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, email us and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
The license server and website are hosted in EU data centers. We are a US company, so account and license data may also be accessed from the United States. Third-party processors (our payment provider, Hostinger, Resend, Loops.so, and Google for website analytics if you accept it) may transfer data to the US under Standard Contractual Clauses or their equivalent.
10. Security
We use HTTPS for all communication. License keys are stored hashed (never plaintext) on our server. Machine fingerprints are hashed before storage. We do not store payment information at all.
11. Changes to This Policy
Material changes will be communicated via email to active license holders and waitlist subscribers. The current version is always available at vidnexus.app/legal/privacy.
12. Contact
The data controller is MYD International LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801-6317, United States. Data Protection contact: support@vidnexus.app. For general inquiries: hello@vidnexus.app.
