YouTube Break-Even Calculator
Enter your cost per video and RPM to see exactly how many views each upload needs to break even, with a ±50% sensitivity table.
Every view past the marker is profit. The rest of a typical 100K-view upload is margin on this video.
How the break-even shifts if your real RPM lands above or below your estimate.
| Scenario | RPM | Views needed |
|---|---|---|
| -50% | $4 | 6,250 |
| -25% | $6 | 4,167 |
| Base | $8 | 3,125 |
| +25% | $10 | 2,500 |
| +50% | $12 | 2,084 |

// Frequently asked questions
Q01How is the break-even point calculated?
Views needed = cost per video ÷ (RPM ÷ 1,000). If a video costs $25 to produce and your RPM is $8, you need 25 ÷ 0.008 = 3,125 views before that upload turns a profit.
Q02What should I include in “cost per video”?
Everything you spend to ship one upload: scriptwriting, AI voiceover credits, stock footage or music licenses, thumbnail design, and a slice of any monthly tool subscriptions divided by your output.
Q03Why does the sensitivity table matter?
Your real RPM drifts with season, audience geography, and ad demand. The ±25% and ±50% rows show how many more (or fewer) views you need if your RPM lands off your estimate, so you can plan for a bad month, not just a good one.
Q04Does this include revenue beyond ads?
No - it only models ad RPM. Sponsorships, affiliates, and product sales lower your effective break-even further, so treat this figure as the conservative, ads-only threshold.
